Massive decline in quality and astonishing battery usage

I was a Berry follower even before the app was created and downloaded the app as soon as it was made available.
However, in the past few months I have become disappointed and fed up with this app. The loud apps that play regardless of whether you phone is on silent, the galleries that are just a picture that wont open into a gallery, and the general decline in quality are all disappointing and have caused me to use the app less and less. I recently discovered that despite me not opening the app within he last 24 hours, my battery usage says it used 20%. Inexcusable when I can find nothing that indicates that it runs in the background.
TheChive app has been updated and worked on; it is clear that it is the focus and that the quality of theBerry is not a priority.
